Butterflies and Ballerinas

Since Scarlett is not in preschool anymore, I still want to work with her at least until Summer.
Willow has been doing better about sitting down and ignoring the ants in her pants for about 3 minutes.

Where oh Where?

is big ol Texas?

Where o Where is Ohio?  This is the song we sing to find our states.  She is doing pretty good with most of the states along the outside of the map.  Of course, she always knows where Florida and Ohio is.  We have a big map on the wall in Daddy's office where she moves the plane to the state that he is in for the week.  She just started doing really good with the puzzle.

ABC

When our whole house was sick we were pulling out all the stops.  Scarlett loves this little activity.  You take these wiki sticks (sticky like pipe cleaner) and make them match the letter.

C is for Cat

Scarlett putting together her cat.

She had glue, cotton balls, colored pencils, scissors and pipe cleaners.  I asked her to make a cat.  She did pretty good but got crazy with the cotton balls.  (she said they were the legs...ha)

Smiles all around

Learning Time consisted of Willow learning about cookies and matching them.

Scarlett was all smiles as she played with the "popcorn movie snacks."

One of the activities we did with the colored pasta was a "rainbow."

Later in the day, we colored the seashells we had found at the beach.  They were the whitest of white sea shells.

Stations

I will write another post about our stations and how I set them up. However, this was one of Willow's stations. (and guess who else had to get involved....)  They both love this fridge game.

Willow loving to sew.  (this was another station as well)

C is for cookies and cupcakes

Usually when we work on the Letter C we make cookies.

We also made cupcakes.

And this is Scarlett's favorite part.

Colored pasta

We made colored pasta.  First, Scarlett helped me write the colors on the bags.

Then, we mixed 1 Tablespoon of alcohol and about 8 squirts of food coloring into a bag.  Next, we dumped the amount of pasta we wanted for that color.  Scarlett then was doing the shakes.

We let the pasta sit in the bags for about 20 minutes to absorb the color.

Last, we put each color out (on paper towel and wax paper) to dry.  Stay tuned for what we are doing with it.

Give Away

Over the weekend, we really didn't work tooo much on "learning time." To be honest, we usually do our "learning time" just during the week.

However, I have been trying to use my weekends to get caught up on research and other things for the possibility of homeschooling or just ideas to do with Scarlett.

Check out this

Free giveaway

I love lapbooks and would love to use them more with Scarlett, it just seems that I can't get caught up on "making them" and this website offers that.  I actually blogged about it because I can win if I post it in my blog.

Also, we started to talk about "more" and "less"

One of our books was Bluebird, Bluebird.

So of course, we made a birdfeeder...ha.... more "how to do" pics to come!!

Learning Time for the fall

A is for Avocado

B is for Bugs.  This "I like bugs" book is a nice level 1 book for beginners.

B is Buckeyes

A is for Alligator

I have been a little busy and well, quite frankly didn't keep up with this like I would like.  I am going to try and post as much as I can.  I would like to link up to sites where I find some of my info.  I would also like to attach lessons that I type up for the week that I do with Scarlett.  I was just talking to a friend on the phone tonight.  We were talking about how often or what I do with Scarlett.  I usually work with Scarlett on academic stuff for about 20 minutes a day.  That's all it takes folks to show and guide your child at this age.  Now, I usually read books, do crafts, make and bake, and play too.  But academically, I usually work with her on the "goal" for the day in about 20 minutes. E is for Elephant

I usually put out the story from the prior weeks. The kids loved Corduroy, so that was in our language arts station.

In dress up, I had a mask of an elephant for the kids to play with.

This is the Elmer the Elephant activity. The book is about an elephant that tries to fit in because he knows he is different. It teaches children about accepting who you are... GREAT BOOK!!
